BEMIDJI — A cold rain hit the Bemidji middle school during halftime of Saturday's girls soccer game between Bemidji and Moorhead but the combatants dismissed the unpleasant conditions and concentrated on the task at hand.
After a scoreless first half the Spuds struck for the game's first goal 64:19 into the action. BHS worked for Maea Wall's tying tally with less than nine minutes to play in regulation and the teams were deadlocked 1-1 after 80 minutes.
Moorhead, however, scored 4:35 into first overtime and the goal proved to be the winner as the Spuds stopped the Lumberjacks 2-1.
"It was an intensely played game," said Bemidji coach Kelly Schoonover. "We had many scoring opportunities but most of our shots went just wide. But it was a fun game to be part of and a fun game to watch."....
