DeLaSalle defeats Richfield to repeat as Class 3A champion

A week ago, DeLaSalle was given the No. 3 seed for the Class 3A state girls basketball tournament.
The Islanders weren't happy about it, to put it mildly. Probably for good reason.
After all, they were the defending state champions, top-ranked and had played a brutally tough nonconference schedule. Two of their three losses were to White Bear Lake and Hopkins, both entrants in the Class 4A tournament. Their other loss was to Providence Academy, which won this year's Class 2A title.
