Simley wins fifth straight Class 2A wrestling title

Simley wrestling coach Will Short is wary of the word "dynasty.''
"It is a great word for the press but not necessarily for a wrestling program,'' said Short, who also serves as activities director at the Inver Grove Heights school. "Thinking you have a dynasty can backfire on you when kids start thinking they are better than they are. We still have work to do.''
Spoken like a true coach who refuses to be complacent in the wake of enormous success.
The Spartans, ranked 11th nationally and No. 1 in Minnesota's Class 2A, certainly qualified for dynasty status Thursday night when they defeated No. 2 Scott West 36-22 in the Class 2A championship match at the Xcel Energy Center.
