Komarek scores four
Sally Komarek scored four goals and Dani Cameranesi had two for the Bears, who have outscored two opponents 16-0 in the tournament. Top-seeded Blake outshot Mahtomedi 45-14.
"We knew coming in how much firepower they had," said Zephyrs co-coach John Taylor. "But to watch them from the press box and then see them on ice level, it's very different."
Mahtomedi was hampered by injuries and had just four blue-line players available. Blake (28-2) was too powerful, with Komarek leading the way and goaltender Chloe Billadeau making 14 saves.
Mahtomedi (9-17-3) was the Cinderella story of the tournament, and Blake coach Brano Stankovsky was concerned about facing the Zephyrs.
"All I could think of was, 'This is dangerous,'" he said. "I didn't want to be part of their story."
Komarek said, "We understood they were peaking right now, and it doesn't matter what the records are."
