New Ulm sophomore Shalyn Salonek said she has been playing goaltender for only two years.
Blake did its best to get her better acclimated to the experience of trying to stop the puck.
The Bears outshot New Ulm 45-4 in a 9-0 victory on Wednesday at Xcel Energy Center.
"Pucks were flying at you from where you can't even see where,'' Salonek said. "You just try your best.''
Blake, the No. 1 seed in the Class 2A tournament, led by a modest 2-0 after the first period before exploding for four goals in the second period.
"We knew we had to pick up the tempo after the first period,'' Bears sophomore forward Abbie Lund said.
Lund scored twice in the second period in a span of 22 seconds. Hillary Crowe also scored a pair of goals for the Bears.
