Section 5AAAAA Semi: #5 Robbinsdale Cooper (4-5) vs. #1 Wayzata (8-0): The #1 seed in Section 5AAAA, the Wayzata Trojans, will begin their quest for a state tournament berth on Saturday afternoon, as they host the #5 seed, the Robbinsdale Cooper Hawks.  Wayzata comes into the game rested, having picked up a bye in the first round of the section tournament.  Cooper, meanwhile, advanced to the second round of the tournament by upsetting #4 Maple Grove in the first round, 22-14, in Maple Grove.  These two teams did not play each other in the regular season, and have no common opponents.  The winner of this game will face the winner of the #2 Champlin Park/#3 Osseo game in the Section 5AAAAA final on Friday, October 31.  This is the only afternoon game on the slate for MSBN in the second round, starting at 3:30 p.m.  Joe Moore will call the play-by-play for MSBN, with Joe Funk providing color commentary.

Section 3AAAA Semi: #4 Richfield (5-4) vs. #1 Saint Thomas Academy (9-0):  In another match-up featuring a #1 seeded team, the Saint Thomas Academy Cadets will host the Richfield Spartans on Saturday evening in Mendota Heights.  The Cadets come into the game following a 38-8 victory over the South St. Paul Packers in the first round of the section tournament, while Richfield outfought the St. Paul Highland Park Scots 27-6 to advance to the second round.  These two teams met in the regular season in Classic Suburban conference play, with Saint Thomas Academy pulling out a 50-6 victory over the Spartans in Richfield.  The winner of Saturday’s game takes on the winner of the #3 Minneapolis Washburn/#2 Simley game on Friday, October 31.  Justin Schmitt will have the call of the action for MSBN, with James Brown providing color commentary.

Section 3AAAAA Semi: #5 Eagan (4-5) vs. #1 Rosemount (8-1): In a semifinal of Lake Conference teams, the #5 seeded Eagan Wildcats will head to Rosemount to take on the #1 seed in section 3AAAAA, the Rosemount Irish.  The Wildcats advanced to the section semifinal by upsetting the #4 seeded Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars, 37-16, while the Irish defeated the #8 seed, Burnsville, 27-7 in the first round.  These two teams did not meet in the regular season, and have not met in Lake Conference play since the 2006 season, when Rosemount defeated Eagan, 50-18.  The winner of Saturday’s game will take on the winner of the #3 Apple Valley/#2 Eastview game on Friday, October 31, for the right to go to the state tournament.  Marcus Dee and Sid Thompson will be in Rosemount for the call of the game on MSBN.

Section 3AAAAA Semi: #3 Apple Valley (5-4) vs. #2 Eastview (6-3): In the second Section 3AAAAA semifinal, it’s an inter-district rivalry between the Apple Valley Eagles and the Eastview Lightning from Eastview High School.  The Eagles advanced to the second round with a first-round win over Prior Lake, 35-13, while Eastview ended Bloomington Kennedy’s season by a final of 27-6.  In their regular season match-up this season, these two teams played a very competitive, defensive game, with Apple Valley coming out on top, 13-7, in a game also played at Eastview High School.  The winner of this game will take on the winner of the #5 Eagan/#1 Rosemount game, again on Friday, October 31.  Nick Walsh will provide the play-by-play for MSBN, with Eric Lucas serving as his color commentator.

Section 1AAAAA Semi: #4 Lakeville South (6-3) vs. #1 Farmington (8-0): In this Section 1AAAAA, the #4 seeded Lakeville South Cougars head across Highway 50 to take on the #1 team in the section, an undefeated Farmington Tigers squad.  The Cougars advanced to the second round of the tournament by disposing of the #5 seeded Rochester Mayo Spartans, 40-14, while Farmington was granted a bye in the first round.  These two teams did not face each other in the regular season, and did not face any common opponents in the regular season.  In fact, though these two teams are just six miles apart, they have never faced each other on the gridiron.  The winner of this match-up will advance to the section 1AAAAA final, facing either the #3 seeded Lakeville North Panthers or the #2 seeded Owatonna Huskies.  Joe Michaels will provide play-by-play for the Minnesota Sports Broadcast Network, with Jon Wekkin assisting with the color commentary.

Section 1AAAAA Semi: #3 Lakeville North (6-3) vs. #2 Owatonna (8-1):  In the other semifinal match-up of section 1AAAAA, the #3 seeded Lakeville North Panthers will head South to take on the #2 seeded Owatonna Huskies in Owatonna.  The Panthers were able to advance to the second round by defeating the Rochester John Marshall Rockets by a final of 41-28, while the Huskies knocked off Rochester Century in the first round, 28-6.  While these two teams did not face off this year, the two teams met in the section 1AAAAA Championship last year, with Lakeville North coming out on top, 14-7.  The winner will face the winner of the #4 Lakeville South/#1 Farmington game on Friday, October 31.  Owatonna has not lost since their first games of the season, a 35-14 loss to Hopkins, building an eight-game winning streak.   Darrel Bimberg and Spencer Werness will have the call of this game for the Minnesota Sports Broadcast Network.

Section 7AAAAA Semi: #5 Andover (4-5) vs. #1 Blaine (7-1):  The #5 seeded Andover Huskies and the #1 seeded Blaine will face each other in the section 7AAAAA semifinal.  Andover advanced to the second round in thrilling fashion, knocking off #4 Forest Lake in the first round, 38-37, while Blaine was given a first round bye.  These two teams met in the regular season in Andover, with Blaine winning the contest 16-8.  The winner of this game will face the winner of the #6 Cambridge-Isanti/#2 Coon Rapids on Friday, October 31.  Mike Jungblut and Steve Pesek will have the call of the game for MSBN.
