DeLaSalle receiver now holds record
Islanders coach Dick Weinberger approached Barker with some important news two days before the Islanders' season-opening 55-18 victory over Brooklyn Center.
"He asked me, 'Do you know what 111 means?' " Barker said. "I had no clue. I thought it was code that I was in trouble."
Not quite; 111 was the number of yards the senior needed to break the state career receiving record.
He reached that mark in the first half Friday, setting the record on a 47-yard touchdown reception. He finished the game with five catches for 122 yards, giving him 3,374 career yards, breaking the record of 3,362 set by Blooming Prairie's Elliott Hrdina last year.
