Young coach 'right call' for Roosevelt

Like many teenagers, Wendy Vang feels a sense of connection and place through a sport. Unlike the vast majority of teenagers, though, Vang feels that bond as the head coach of a varsity high school team.
Vang, who turned 19 in May, is the co-head coach of the Minneapolis Roosevelt volleyball team. While official records on youngest head coaches are not readily available, Vang -- a 2007 Minneapolis Henry graduate and lifelong Minnesotan -- is at the very least a rarity as a coach leading players barely younger than she is.
She has an ageless face and could easily be confused for a player on the team. When asked if that seems strange, though, Vang laughs.
