The Story Line

The No. 1-seeded Skippers of Minnetonka were just toot fast and too accurate for the No. 4-seeded Tigers of St. Cloud Tech (28-3). Minnetonka (27-3) put together a 15-point halftime lead with pressure defense and nearly 58 percent shooting. By game’s end, the margin was 24 and the Skippers earned a chance to play for the school’s third state title. The Skippers finished with nearly 55 percent shooting efficiency and an 83-59 victory. Conversely, the Tigers mustered only a 29 percent efficiency rating from the floor, 22-for-76 overall and only 4-for-20 from three-point range. Seniors Anthony Tucker and C.J. Erickson scored 25 and 24 points, respectively for Minnetonka. Sophomore Alex Hanks had 21 for St. Cloud Tech.

The Quote

Minnetonka head coach John Hedstrom talks about his five starters; all seniors: "I don't get nervous, to be honest, because of the great senior leaders we have.  I don't have to do a lot of coaching at this point in time.  My goal and philosophy is by the time we get to this game in their senior year, to be sincere and honest, they don't need me.  They just take over.  If they need me, we're in trouble."
