Congratulations to our Hardware Hank “Nuts & Bolts” Athletes of the Week: Brianna Mastey, junior, Becker girls’ basketball and Tayler Hill, sophomore, Minneapolis South girls’ basketball. They were nominated by Brian Weber and Jesse Lowther.
Brian writes: Brianna has been the Bulldogs’ top-scorer all season, but she has really been great through the playoffs. She averages over 20 points per game, but scored 21 in the sections finals, 24 and 28 so far in two state tournament games. She’s been the backbone on the team and will be the deciding factor for Becker in the State Championship.
Jesse writes: I’ve heard people say that Tayler could play in the WNBA right now and she’s just a sophomore. There’s no doubt that she’s one of the top players in the state right now. In the playoffs, she’s helped South with great numbers and leadership. Already in the section and state tournaments, she’s put up 29, 23 and 28 points against some great 4A teams. South will need Tayler’s top game if they want to beat Central for the title.
