Irish Coaches Are Smiling
By Ryan Phelps Rosemount, MN
 | Defensive pursuit |
Jeff Erdman is in his seventh year as the Irish head coach and in that time he has never had more than 52 players. This year he has almost that many juniors, with 50. This is both good news and bad news for Rosemount. The good is that they have a lot of depth. The bad news, they don't have much experience.
The Irish are relying on their strong work ethic to help them compete in a tough Lake Conference, one that has hoisted three of the last five Class 5A state titles. The Irish last had a taste of the title back in 1981, when they claimed the 2A championship.
Although many things have changed in the Lake Conference since then, Rosemount still represents the blue-collared attitude they had over two decades ago.
They will grind it out at home against Eagan when they open their season on September 1. |
