Hopkins' three-year reign ends

Hopkins' three-year reign as Class 4A champion is over.
Osseo, whose loss in the 2009 big-school title game started the Royals' run, stopped it this time with an 87-86 victory in triple overtime in an epic boys basketball semifinal Thursday night, March 22, at Target Center.
Senior forward Cal Bloom scored six of his 17 points in the third overtime, and sophomore center Ian Theisen had a team-high 21 points, to send the Orioles (29-2) to the championship game for the first time since 2009.
