St. Michael-Albertville has enough to topple Stillwater
By David La Vaque, Star Tribune
St. Paul, Minn.
St. Michael-Albertville pitcher David Borchardt said his whole body hurt going into Friday's Class 3A state baseball championship game against Stillwater.
But he made the Ponies feel his pain.
Borchardt held Stillwater scoreless for five innings one day after throwing 122 times in the quarterfinal victory against Eden Prairie. The Knights made the most of recycled pitching and 12 singles, prevailing 7-4 in the Class 3A title game at Midway Stadium in St. Paul. They previously won the Class 2A title in 2000.
"David and Jared [Dehmer] did a great job all through the tournament stepping up and making pitches," St. Michael-Albertville catcher Sam Boisner said.
